Layered White Fillings
- An alternative to laboratory made porcelain veneers.
- Can be used to rebuild fractured front teeth or repair enamel loss.
- High maintenance - need periodic re-polishing
- Can be repaired without expensive + time consuming laboratory involvement.
- Minimal preparation of teeth required.
Cosmetic Porcelain Crowns
- Used to restore fractured front teeth + correct discoloured or crooked teeth.
- Shades taken at the laboratory allowing for excellent colour matching, especially with single teeth.
- Very strong.
- High level of tooth preparation required, therefore other options i.e. Porcelain veneers or layered white fillings need to be considered.
Before - Fractured single front tooth with difficult shading due to transparent tooth tissue at tip.
Porcelain Veneers
- Used to restore fractured front teeth, correct discoloured or crooked teeth, protect teeth with warn or eroded enamel.
- Laboratory made allowing for excellent cosmetic and a glazed finish.
- Care needed if used on patients who grind their teeth.
- Time consuming and possibly expensive to repair/replace due to laboratory involvement.
- Some preparation of teeth required.
Before - front 6 teeth showing loss of tooth tissue + discolouration at the gum margin due to excessive brushing.
